Our calypso coral Torino was originally a drag car for Stengers Ford of Dayton between 1970 to 1980.  The car was stored until 1985 when it was purchased by its next owner who did a complete ground up restoration using all the original parts that had been in storage while the vehicle was being raced.  The car was in numerous publications in the 90’s including the Muscle Car Review, Muscle Car of the ‘60s and ‘70s, and the cover car for the 93 Memorable Muscle Car Calendar.

The vehicle again sat in storage for several years until we bought it in 1997.  With some help from friends, we removed and rebuilt the engine and restored the engine compartment.  The following winter, Jim Thompson, Newark, did the complete bumper to bumper frame on restoration.

This car is rare because it is a GT, but built with Torino Cobra powertrain.  It is a 429 Super Cobra Jet (4 bolt crank and 13:1 compression) with an R-code C-6 transmission, 9” 31 spline positraction rear end, with a drag-pak option.
